Program Overview
The Internship Program / Coach in Training (C.I.T.) at Greenburgh Indoor Tennis is designed to provide young adults in high school with the opportunity to develop leadership skills and gain hands-on experience in a professional work environment. Our program has an organized pathway that enables young adults to progress through four distinct levels while in high school, which will enable them to take on some basic work responsibilities and have the opportunity to work at the club for compensation when basic training is complete and the intern/CIT is 16-18 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • On-court assistance with the coaching staff – assist in organizing the younger kids and be prepared to take charge of small groups of players when necessary
  • Delivery & knowledge of the QuickStart teaching format for red, orange, and green ball
  • Set-up and tear down of all equipment before and after each lesson
  • Off-court helper to parents when children get dropped off or picked up


Eligibility

  • 14-18 years old
  • Currently attending a local high school and currently enrolled in the Greenburgh Indoor Tennis high school clinic program
  • Knowledgeable or at least have a background in tennis – JV or Varsity level
  • Comfortable working with younger children of all ages and abilities
  • Positive and enthusiastic in all tasks
  • Motivated to improve knowledge and skills
  • Responsible and timely on a daily basis
  • A team player on court and off
  • Professional in appearance; wear proper tennis attire at all times and be well groomed
  • Most importantly, must LOVE tennis, working with kids and be a positive role model and staff member when representing one self and GIT


C.I.T. Internship Levels

  1. Freshman in high school – Volunteer Intern, go through basic training, learn the system of the kids program, exemplify comfort coaching the kids, continue to learn various work skills
  2. Sophomore in high school – Volunteer Intern, go through basic training, learn the system of the kids program, exemplify comfort coaching the kids, continue to learn various work skills
  3. Junior – *Assistant pro / volunteer – compensation based on completion of training program, experience, leadership, and full comfort teaching or leading classes by one self
  4. Senior – *Assistant pro / volunteer – compensation based on completion of training program, experience, leadership, and comfort teaching or leading classes by one self


*An Assistant Pro C.I.T. / Volunteer will have the opportunity to be compensated for their work at Greenburgh Indoor Tennis only after they go through the basic on court training requirements, having learned the QuickStart / Greenburgh Indoor Tennis system of teaching, and fulfilled their age requirement i.e. freshman and sophomore age to junior and senior years.

This work can include, but is not limited to kids clinics, tournaments, special events inside or outside the club, and administrative office work when necessary.
